Ryan McArthur to Blinn College

Ryan McArthur is joining the faculty at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas as the full-time Director of Jazz and Trumpet.

McArthur earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Baylor University, where he performed with various bands and orchestras and won the Large Ensemble Division of the National Trumpet Competition in 2017. During his summers as an undergraduate, he attended the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in Waimea, Hawaii and the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina.

After graduation, McArthur continued his studies at the University of Houston, earning a Master of Music in Performance in 2022 and a Doctor of Musical Arts in 2025. There, he performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber ensembles, and served as Assistant Director and Teaching Fellow for the Jazz Orchestra. He was also a member of the university's small trumpet ensemble that won First Prize at the 2024 National Trumpet Competition. 

Upon completing his doctorate, Ryan performed actively throughout Houston and taught at Lone Star College, where he offered applied trumpet lessons and music appreciation courses at the University Park and Cy-Fair campuses and directed the jazz ensemble at the Cy-Fair campus.
