Noah Dugan Appointed Principal Trumpet of The Phoenix Symphony
Noah Dugan will be joining the Phoenix Symphony as Principal Trumpet.
Principal Trumpet of the Louisville Orchestra, Noah Dugan is from Phoenix, Arizona. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, and two Master of Music degrees—one from the Colburn School and another from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. His primary teachers have included Benny Nguyen, David Bilger, Jim Wilt, Barbara Butler, and Charlie Geyer.
Dugan joined the Louisville Orchestra as Second Trumpet in 2022 and was in that role for a year before winning the audition for Principal Trumpet in 2023. He has appeared as Guest Principal Trumpet with the Oslo Philharmonic, and was Co-Principal Trumpet of the Cabrillo Festival for Contemporary Music in 2024. Noah has also performed in the trumpet section of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, The Phoenix Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, and Britt Festival Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with the Colburn Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, and the Louisville Orchestra.
Dugan has been awarded several grants from the Sphinx Organization’s National Alliance for Audition Support, and is a proud recipient of a Graduate Music Grant from the Presser Foundation while at Rice University, which afforded him a middle ear implant that was transformative for his career as a musician with sensorineural hearing loss.
