ITG Mourns the Loss of Vera Hørven Olcott
ITG mourns the loss of Vera Hørven Olcott. Vera, wife of TCTE (Twin Cities Trumpet Ensemble) Director James Olcott, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2 from a progressive neurological disease.Long a mainstay and ardent supporter of the TCTE, Vera was the photographer for the ensemble for the first several years, and until January of this year, was the greeter at Gramercy's front door for every TCTE rehearsal since the ensemble's birth in 2014.
A native of Norway and gifted trumpeter/teacher/composer and photographer, Vera leaves behind two sons from a prior marriage, four grandchildren, and two sisters, all in Norway, and her husband.
A Celebration of Life Memorial is planned for the evening of Tuesday, July 22 at Gramercy and will involve the TCTE performing opening and closing music along with several of Vera's own compositions interspersed throughout the ceremony.
