Nicole Gillotti to Western Illinois University

The Western Illinois University School of Music announces the appointment of Nicole Gillotti as assistant professor of music, where her term will begin August 2023.

Nicole Gillotti joined the TAMIU faculty in 2019 as Assistant Professor of Trumpet where she teaches courses in Applied Trumpet, Brass Ensemble, and Brass Methods.

In addition to teaching, Gillotti is an active performer. She co-founded Hint of Lime Brass, a brass trio which is has performed at various universities, conferences, and performance venues to premiere new music for brass trio. In Texas, she currently performs with the McKinney Philharmonic and Victoria Symphony. She recently completed recording her debut solo CD, Many Faces, which will release in June 2023.

Gillotti has also performed with many professional ensembles including the University of Illinois Graduate Brass Quintet, Illinois State University Faculty Brass Quintet, Transit Brass Octet, Illinois Consortium Quintet, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Millikin-Decatur Symphony, University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and Berks Sinfonietta.

Gillotti has performed at conferences, festivals, and competitions throughout the United States and Europe including the International Women’s Brass Conference, Orvieto Musica, and the International Trumpet Guild Conference. She competed as a semi-finalist in the undergraduate and graduate solo divisions for the National Trumpet Competition in 2014, 2015, and 2016; as well as the Ensemble Division in 2018.

Gillotti received a B.S. in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, M.M. in Trumpet Performance from Illinois State University, and D.M.A. in Trumpet Performance and Literature from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. (Source: Western Illinois University School of Music)
