Jason Dovel to Ionian University

Jason Dovel was appointed Visiting Professor of Trumpet at Ionian University (IU) in Corfu, Greece, for the Autumn 2021 Term. Established in 1824, Ionian Academy, the precursor to IU, was the first Greek academic institution established in modern times.

At IU, Dovel taught applied trumpet lessons to the university's trumpet students, led weekly studio classes, and also served as a guest lecturer in music composition courses. He worked with IU's composition faculty and students on compositional techniques for trumpet and other brass instruments.

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 7:30pm, Dovel played a faculty trumpet recital at Ionian University's historic Ceremonial Hall. The hall had been previously closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Dovel's recital was the first live concert on campus in 18 months.
