King’s Brass National Tour 2021

Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass embarked on their 43rd tour in summer 2021. At the end of the ten-week summer tour, the group performed 72 concerts in 18 different states.

The ensemble has played throughout the United States and internationally for 44 years and includes three trumpets, two trombones, bass trombone, tuba, percussion, and piano. The group is comprised of professional musicians throughout the country and performs music of various genres, including classical, jazz, and traditional/contemporary Christian hymns.

This summer has been an eventful tour with the COVID-19 pandemic and specific safety protocols throughout the nation. Nevertheless, the support for live music and the ensemble across the United States has been very strong. The group has enjoyed reconnecting with their audiences this season after their hiatus last year due to COVID-19. This summer the King’s Brass were the featured artists at the Csehy Summer Music Festival at Cairn University in Pennsylvania where they presented a workshop and performed a concert for the students and staff. In addition to all the concerts they performed, the ensemble recorded two new arrangements by former King’s Brass member Lisa Nelson at Gaither Studios in Indiana. The group has released 18 albums to date, including their most recent, Christmas Joy! (Summit Records).

Some of the highlights of this summer tour have been amazing hikes in Letchworth State Park (NY), Stone Mountain (GA), Mohonk State Park (NY), and visiting with former New York Philharmonic Principal Trumpet, Philip Smith, who attended a concert in Sellersville, PA with his father, Derek Smith. The King’s Brass even found some free time for their annual King’s Brass Golf Tournament in Ocean City (NJ), a trip on the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls, and a few MLB baseball games.
