Bruflat to Lincoln Memorial University

Ben Bruflat has been appointed Assistant Professor of Music at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU).

At LMU, he will teach Music Appreciation and conduct the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Pep Band.

Bruflat is currently Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Faulkner University, teaching lessons remotely to all trumpet music majors. Prior to these appointments, Ben taught a variety of courses during his graduate studies including large sections of Music Appreciation to 400 students, trumpet lessons to college music minors and non-majors, Music Theory Rudiments, and JH/HS music courses at annual summer music camps.

Bruflat is an active performer around the country. He previously appeared regularly with the Tuscaloosa (AL) Symphony Orchestra, the Starkville (MS) Symphony Orchestra, the Starkville Symphony Brass Quintet, and the Mississippi State Faculty Brass Quintet. He has also performed with the Danville (IN) Symphony Orchestra, the Sioux City (IA) Municipal Band, and for various cover bands and weddings. Ben was a featured soloist at the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association annual conference with the Wayne State College Wind Ensemble in 2015 and at the Midwest Trumpet Festival in 2017. He is also a two-time quarterfinalist in the ensembles division of the National Trumpet Competition (2019, 2020). Ben received his Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Vocal/Instrumental Music Education from Wayne State College in 2016. He graduated with a Master of Arts in Music Performance from Eastern Illinois University in 2018. In May of 2021, Ben graduated from the University of Alabama with a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Performance. His primary trumpet instructors are Dr. David Bohnert, Dr. Joshua Thompson, Dr. Andrew Cheetham, and Dr. Eric Yates.
